Krýsuvíkur Church was built in 1857 and closed as a parish church in 1929, but was later used as a residence. The church was repaired in 1964 and handed over to the National Museum.

It is an example of a simple country church from the second half of the 19th century.
It is a place outside inhabited centers in a countryside area with mountains around and without any lamppost. A great place to photograph the Northern Lights with a great foreground subject.
