I want to start this journey in Iceland from one of the most beautiful and iconic waterfalls of the island, Seljalandsfoss. Its volume of water, if compared to other waterfalls like Gullfoss or Dettifoss, is rather small but its main feature is that you walk around and see it from behind. In fact, it is one of the few waterfalls in Iceland to have this feature but you have to take into account a shower. The best time to photograph it at sunset is during the summer solstice when the sun illuminates it almost frontally and the grazing rays of the sun paint it with a warm and golden light.

Located along the southern coast of the country, near the town of Hella, it drops approximately 60 meters from the Seljalands River, which originates from the glacier-covered volcano, Eyjafjallajökull.
From the ring road n°1 you can take a path that goes up to the top of the mountain. From here you have a very beautiful view of the surrounding landscape and the waterfall. During the summer season the mountains are colored with bright green that contrasts beautifully with the white of the waterfall.
A few hundred meters further on there is another small waterfall but equally beautiful, Gljúfrabúi. To see it you have to enter a small canyon where the river formed by the waterfall itself flows and walk close to the wall if you don't want to get your feet wet. Once you reach the main point, by looking up you can admire it from the bottom up. Here too a shower is guaranteed.
The waterfall is approximately 40 meters tall and is fed by the glacial meltwaters from the nearby glacier, Eyjafjallajökull.
One of the most enchanting aspects of Gljúfrabúi is its dramatic setting; it is partially obscured by tall cliffs and lush greenery, giving it a mystical and serene ambiance. The surrounding landscape is characterized by moss-covered rocks and vibrant plant life, making it an ideal spot for photography and nature walks.
See you soon!
Luigi
