Lake Mývatn, located in northern Iceland, is renowned for its stunning natural beauty and rich biodiversity. Formed by volcanic activity around 2300 years ago, the lake is situated in an area of geothermal activity, surrounded by unique landscapes, including lava fields, hot springs, and volcanic craters. The name "Mývatn" translates to "Midge Lake," reflecting the myriad of midges that inhabit the area, especially during the summer months.
