Seljalandsfoss is one of Iceland's most iconic waterfalls, renowned for its stunning beauty and unique features. Located along the southern coast of the country, near the town of Hella, it drops approximately 60 meters from the Seljalands River, which originates from the glacier-covered volcano, Eyjafjallajökull.

What makes Seljalandsfoss particularly special is the pathway that allows visitors to walk behind the waterfall, providing a rare perspective and breathtaking views of the cascading water from within the rock face. This experience is especially enchanting during sunset when the sunlight filters through the water, creating a magical atmosphere. The surrounding landscape, characterized by lush greenery, rugged cliffs, and the distant mountains, adds to the allure of this natural wonder.

In addition to its beauty, Seljalandsfoss is part of a larger geographical area rich in other spectacular sights, including the nearby Gljúfrabúi waterfall, which is partially hidden within a canyon. This makes the region a popular destination for hikers and nature lovers.

Visiting Seljalandsfoss is particularly popular in the summer months, but the waterfall is also accessible in winter, when it transforms into a frozen spectacle.
