Kirkjufell is a very popular mountain for photographers and non-photographers alike. It is located on the Snæfellsnes peninsula in the west of Iceland. It is usually photographed from the front often including the small waterfall on the other side of the road called Kirkjufellsfoss. Sometimes, however, a different point of view can give the mountain a totally different aspect. Here I took it from its left side at sunset. Golden sunlight bathes the side of the mountain as it reflects perfectly in the calm water below. The sky transitions softly from light pink to blue, creating a serene and tranquil atmosphere.
