When I moved to Iceland on March 2018, one of my first thoughts (and a dream I had in my drawer) was to make a book about the four elements in nature (earth, water, fire and air) which are certainly not lacking in Iceland. It took a long time because at that time I had neither photographic material nor photographic skills to be able to make a photography book. But the thought was always there. Not to mention the fact that some people asked me why I didn't do it. Finally, after years spent traveling the island far and wide and taking many photographs, the dream came true! And I'm already thinking on my second book!

In Iceland there are many churches. Those in the villages are generally very small and typically either painted white with a red roof or completely black. The church near the Krýsuvík geothermal area, called Krýsuvíkurkirkja, is worth a short detour. It is a very small and old wooden church. It was built in 1857 and used as a parish church until 1929. It has since served as a residence. It stands on a spacious site surrounded by ancient tombs, of which mostly only the slightly raised, grassy mounds of earth can be seen. A beautiful entrance gate leads to the site. Fortunately there are no lights to illuminate it and it is therefore possible to photograph it with the northern lights in all its beauty.

Ketubjörg Waterfall is a lesser-known yet stunning waterfall. Nestled in a remote area, it offers a serene and picturesque setting that captures the essence of Iceland's natural beauty.
The waterfall is characterized by its dramatic drop and is surrounded by rugged landscapes, lush greenery, and striking rock formations.
Accessing Ketubjörg Waterfall requires a bit of effort, as it is off the beaten path and not as easily reachable as some of Iceland's more famous waterfalls. However, the journey to the site is rewarding, as visitors are treated to breathtaking views of the fjords and the surrounding landscape.
The waterfall is often best visited during the summer months when the weather is milder, allowing for safer hiking conditions and the chance to enjoy the vibrant colors of the flora around it.
