Dyrhólaey Lighthouse is a picturesque and iconic landmark located on the southern coast of Iceland, near the town of Vík í Mýrdal. Perched atop a promontory that rises 120 meters above the sea, the lighthouse offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape, including the dramatic sea cliffs, black sand beaches, and the famous Reynisdrangar sea stacks.
The lighthouse was built in 1927 and stands at 9 meters tall, characterized by its white exterior and red roof. The name "Dyrhólaey" translates to "door hole cliff," which refers to the natural arch that has formed in the rock, creating a "doorway" to the sea.
