Abruzzo National Park, or Parco Nazionale d'Abruzzo, is a stunning protected area located in the Apennine Mountains of central Italy. Established in 1922, it covers approximately 50,000 hectares and is one of the oldest national parks in Italy. The park is renowned for its breathtaking landscapes, which include rugged mountains, deep valleys, dense forests, and crystal-clear rivers.

The park is a biodiversity hotspot, home to a variety of flora and fauna. It hosts several significant species, including the endangered Apennine wolf, the Marsican brown bear, and the chamois. Birdwatchers can also find numerous species, such as the golden eagle and the peregrine falcon.

Abruzzo National Park is not just a haven for wildlife; it also offers a wealth of outdoor activities. Hiking trails traverse the park, ranging from easy walks to challenging mountain treks, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in nature. In winter, the park transforms into a winter sports destination, with opportunities for skiing, snowshoeing, and other winter activities.

Culturally, the region is rich in history, with picturesque villages like Pescasseroli, which serves as a gateway to the park. Visitors can explore traditional architecture, local cuisine, and various festivals that celebrate the area's heritage.
